Maui Pure is the latest breakthrough thinnest and most lightweight lens material in the Maui Jim sunglass range. The total weight of the frame and lenses is 10 grams.

The temple tip pads have been minimised, and the nose pads have been designed for advanced airflow technology to provide a better grip and less slip. The MauiPure LT retains all the same attributes of MauiPure, yet is 27% thinner. MauiPure LT is available in two new rimless styles, ‘Hema’ and ‘Hikina’  in Plano.

For non-prescription, the lightest frames are the  Akau, Hikina and Hema models.

The rimless style features beta-titanium temples and adjustable Rabalon nose bridges bring  ultra-lightweight comfort.  Non-prescription pairs vary from approx. 10 to 50 grams depending on the frame material, frame style, and lens material. Rimless styles will always be the lightest. Prescription lenses would increase the weight, which depends on the lens material and your individual prescription.

Neutral Grey offers the highest level of light reduction for bright, sunny days; HCL Bronze enhances contrast in variable conditions, and Maui HT (High Transmission) is the lens for when most lenses would be too dark.

RARE EARTH ELEMENTS

Rare earth metals are a group of 17 elements – lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, lutetium, scandium, yttrium – that appear in low concentrations in the ground. Rare earth metals and alloys that contain them are used in many devices that people use every day such as computer memory, DVDs, rechargeable batteries, cell phones, catalytic converters, magnets, fluorescent lighting
Incorporating three rare earth elements in patented Maui Jim technology (neodymium, erbium, and praseodymium) increases the amount and quality of red, blue, and green the eye perceives


Neodymium is used with iron and boron to create powerful permanent magnets, also called NIB magnets. NIB magnets are used in computers, cell phones, medical equipment, toys, motors, wind turbines, and audio systems. Neodymium is used as a crystal (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) in lasers.
Erbium is a silvery-white solid metal when artificially isolated, natural erbium is always found in chemical combination with other elements. Erbium isotopes are good neutron absorbers and are used in nuclear reactor control rods. The oxide erbia is used as a pink coloring agent in glazes and glasses. Erbium is used in alloys especially with vanadium to decrease the hardness of metals. It is also used in amplifiers and lasers.
Praseodymium is used to make specialized yellow glass goggles for glass blowers and welders. Flame lighter flints use misch metal (a rare earth alloy) containing praseodymium to produce sparks by friction. Praseodymium salts are used to colour glasses and enamels.
